I have to apologize for today’s segment of Main Set Monday! I am currently travelling and my laptop does not want to read the web cam. However, this is one of my favorite sets to run in practice. It’s simple, it focuses on the biggest aspect of swimming…the kick, but more-over pulls the focus of the kick into the 200 yard swims. With that said, this set can be swum as any stroke – take a look:
*8 Rounds
- 1 x 200 @ 5 breath rest
- 1 x 100 from the start @ 1:30 [200 pace and technique
- 1 x 100 from the push @ 2:00 [200 pace and technique
Each 200 is swam differently with the focus being on the kick. Each of the kick portions are done to emphasize body position (so fly is done on front, free is done on axis, breast is done on front, and back is done on…that’s right…back):
- 25 swim, 175 kick
- 50 swim, 150 kick
- 75 swim, 125 kick
- 100 swim, 100 kick
- 125 swim, 75 kick
- 150 swim, 50 kick
- 175 swim, 25 kick
- 200 swim
