For lack of a better term, there are some colossus dual meets this upcoming weekend and with the new polls out there are some excellent match-ups and some heating duals in the pools!  Here is a quick preview of what is to come this weekend:

  1. Arizona Men (#3) at Stanford Men (#2) – Let’s just put it this way…both of these teams are undefeated in the dual meet arena this year!  While Arizona is leading the country in 8 different events, Stanford has a slew of swimmers in the top 15 in the country.  Two races to watch: (1) Eugene Godsoe vs Cory Chitwood in the 100 back, and (2) 100 and 200 breaststroke where the two school combine for just over 1/3 of the top 20 breaststrokers in the nation.
  2. Arizona Women (#2) at Stanford Women (#4) – Again, neither of these teams has been beaten this year in dual meet settings.  Almost all of these races will count and be a barn burner as the taste from last year’s close Stanford victory has not settled for Arizona.
  3. Arizona Men (#3) at California Men (#4) – True power sprinters at their best; especially if Arizona gets past Stanford unblemished.  If that does, in fact happen, it will be yet another battle of perfection.
  4. Arizona Women (#2) at California Women (#5) – NCAA champ (2008) vs NCAA champ (2009)…let’s see who has it in their tank to take the other team down!  This should be a great swim meet to say the very least!

Other meets to keep an eye out for this weekend are:

  • Auburn Men (#5) take on Florida Men (#6)
  • Auburn Women (#8) vs. Florida Women (#7)
  • Tennessee Men (#11) challenge Georgia (#12)
  • Lady Vol’s (#12) vs Goergia Women (#1)
  • Cavalier Men (#8) face North Carolina Men (#14)
  • Virginia Women (#11) go head to head with Tar Heel Ladies (#15)
  • Texas A&M Women (#6) at LSU Ladies (#24)
  • LSU Men (#17) collide with Aggie Men (#19)

Of course there are tons of other dual swim meets going on this weekend, but these are going to be the top battles of the weekend to really watch!

Enjoy the excitement!  I know I will!
